David Evans
It is with great sadness that we have to announce the death of David Evans who sang with the tenor section of the choir.
Earlier in the year we announced that David was going to Ethiopia with the VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas) for two years to work with teachers there to help improve the country's ailing education system. Unfortunately, on June 14th, David and some of his colleagues were walking home after an evening out in Addis Ababa, when they were struck by a vehicle. David was killed and others were seriously injured.
In the past David has been both Chairman and Secretary of Broom Leys Choral Society, and has worked tirelessly over many years. He was a most valued member of the society, and will be greatly missed.

CONGRATULATIONS!
Many congratulations to our Musical Director, Brian Humpherson, on having been awarded an M.B.E. in the 2008 New Year's Honours List for his services to music.
As you will see from the item below, Brian has been M.D. of the society for over 25 years, and the members of the society are very proud of all Brian's achievements and extend to him, and his wife Jen, their very best wishes for the future.

25 Year Celebration - Last year (2007) marked 25 years since our current Musical Director, Brian Humpherson, joined the society. Everyone in Broom Leys Choral Society wishes Brian every success in the future, and looks forward to 'making music' with him for many years to come!
CHOIR MEMBER DAVID EVANS TO SPEND TWO YEARS IN ETHIOPIA WITH THE VSO
David Evans, a former teacher at Ashby School, and who sings tenor with BLCS - will be leaving to spend two years with the VSO in Ethiopia and work with teachers there to help improve the country's ailing education system. All members of the choir wish him well in this venture.
